World Record Mario Hugs

Nintendo Australia has taken a somewhat different approach to marketing today, announcing its plans to celebrate the release of Super Mario Galaxy 2 down under with a hugging competition in Melbourne next week.

The publisher hopes to beat the current world record for the most hugs by a mascot character in 20 minutes by asking as many people as possible to hug Mario during the game’s launch at the Swanston Street EB Games on July 1…

Black Wii Is Now Official

Nintendo announced today that the Black Wii is being released in the United States. It will include Wii Sports Resort and MotionPlus. They have also announced that the white bundles will also come with Wii Sports Resort and MotionPlus as well. The price remains $199.

A new gameplay video of Super Mario Galaxy 2 was revealed by Nintendo World Report/IGN/Nintendo has revealed quite a bit.
1. A new rock suit
2. Some new galaxy footage
3. A golden yoshi to speed across areas that it lights up
4. A sample of the new orchestrations
5. A form of a hub world

Super Mario Galaxy 2 To Use World Maps

Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that Super Mario Galaxy 2 will feature a traditional world map instead of a 3D hub world. The concept of the hub world was first introduced in Super Mario 64, with Peach’s Castle serving as the hub. In Super Mario Galaxy, Rosalina’s Station was the hub world to many of its levels.
